| Plusses | With one account you can have an unlimited number of autoresponders with an unlimited number of messages in each autoresponder. You can choose between HTML and Text emails and the nice thing is that you can run all of your messages and newsletters through a SPAM check to determine their rating. The results tell you where the problems are in your message. Very useful if you depend upon your emails getting through. Speaking of getting your emails through, Aweber has created relationships with major ISP's that will mean a lot of emails you send won't immediately get sent into the SPAM box. Other features that come in handy are the split testing features that allow you to easily work on improving your signup ratios and the statistics that come with your account which allow you to get a good handle on which of your autoresponders are doing the best. Aweber also interfaces with other shopping carts and Paypal so you can still maintain contact with your customers in a regular automated basis. Aweber can interface with many other shopping carts and payment processing programs, but it requires some programming knowledge, or you can hire out Aweber for any customized programming. One really nice feature with the way autoresponder messages are set up is that they are based on the number of days since the last message was sent out. That means that you don't have to worry about what number of days is 13 1/2 weeks out. It also means that you can continually add to your series and your recipients will never miss any new messages to your series because they may have been at the end of your series for a while. In addition to the powerful autoresponder capabilities, Aweber also has newsletter capabilities as well. Newsletter creators have the ability to determine how many of their email recipients actually click on the links in the emails received, and multiple links can be tracked within each email. Aweber is very good at maintaining the integrety of your list. It's double opt-in features and automatic unsubscribe and CAN-SPAM complient messaging system makes it one of the more worry free mailing systems out there today. |
| Minuses | Creating autoresonder messages within this program can somtimes be a bit confusing. If you create a new message within an autoresponder and never complete it, it get's sent out anyway, which can be a bit frustrating, because once you complete it, you have lost your chance with those who have already received the message. It would also be nice to be able to send an autoresponder message to someone on your list based upon a specific field without having to create another entire autoresonder series. However, I haven't seen any autoresponder do that as of yet. Another feature that would be nice would be to see the open rates of the autoresonder messages that get sent out. Being able to split test the headlines would be a tremendous feature for email marketers. One last comment is that they recently moved to double opt-in on all of their autoresponders. While it will improve the quality of your list, growth rate will be smaller. |
| Result | The overall results of Aweber are very good. With its ability to integrate with several shopping carts, and it's tracking statistics, you can give any shopping cart excellent marketing and post followup capabilities. This is a great way to make sure you get to keep customers when you use 3rd party processor solutions because technically, the merchant does not own the customer information. The simple messaging features can give you unlimited and uninterrupted communication access to your subscribers, and the link tracking ability gives you a great way to find out which offers in your emails are more popular. Overall for the price and features you get for unlimited autoresponders and unlimited messages per autoresponder, Aweber is one of the best values I have seen out there. |
