| Plusses | 1ShoppingCart is an online shopping cart solution that makes it very easy for merchants to get e-commerce capability. The only thing a merchant would need would be a web site, and a merchant account with a gateway. This ecommerce solution easily interfaces with most popular gateways, such as authorize.net and other popular gateways. It even interfaces with third party solutions such as Paypal. It is reltively easy to learn the features of this solution. There is plenty of documentation that can be found on the website and it is easily accessible. It also has some video clips to help you through setting up your shopping cart account. I even had a client go into her account and set it up herself with relatively few problems. This client was not a programmer, website designer, or Internet marketer, but was able to enter products, set up her autoresponders, and set many of her shopping cart settings. The customer service is not bad. It could be a bit more responsive in terms of followup, but whenever I was on the phone with a customer service agent, I received the answers to my questions, and other followup help. The autoresponder functionality is packed with features. You can create an autoresonder for a specific product, or your entire site, or both. Using autoresponders is a great way to upsell your clients to more of your products or services, or to a product or service you are promoting. One thing about the autoresponder that I didn't like is that if you add more messages to your autoresponder series, some of your customers may not get the messages if they are past the day you add the new autoresponder message. If you want to sell an ebook online, this service is a great solution. You can upload your ebook and the shopping cart will handle the temporary download links, which saves you space on your own server, and cuts down on unauthorized downloads of your electronic products. This shopping cart solution also comes with coupon and discount codes which will allow you to create promotions for products and services during special times of the year. The great thing about this is that you can make the discount code time limited, or number limited, meaning you can have a particular discount for the month of December only, or have it available to the first 100 people. This feature is great for getting potential customers who are on the fence to push them over the edge with a time limited discount. Any shopping cart solution is incomplete without the ability to track your ads from various promotions. Marketers Choice allows you to track various kinds of marketing campaigns. You can determine which ad campaigns produce the most number of sales and which ones you should probably drop. Testing and tracking is the number 1 key to determining the success or failure of your online business. One minus to this feature is it isn't completely intuitive, and it may take a few tries to get it right, but the ability to create ad campaigns all the way to the sale is crucial for online success. If you need an affiliate tracking system, 1shopping cart has integrated an affiliate system that rivals stand alone affiliate programs. You have tremendous control over the type of affiliate program you want to run, and can offer individual affiliates different percentages. It's ease of use makes it a low maintenance effort on the part of the merchant. |
| Minuses | Creating autoresonder messages within this program can somtimes be a bit intensive. You have to know the number of days out for a specific message you want it to be mailed in the series. This can make it a bit tedious to count out the number a days for anything greater than 10 weeks. This also creates a problem when you want to add another autoresponder message later on. If users have gone past the day you add your autoresponder message, they will never get it. That is one of the biggest shortcomings in my opinion. It is also not seamless to use multiple websites with this solution. They do make it easy to add header and footer tags to give the shopping cart it's own unique look and feel, it is a bit clunky to have completely separate information fields such as addresses for the base shopping cart configuration. |
